Clinical governance

Trustworthy health information depends on more than good writing. Loupa content, for clinicians and for patients, is developed under defined governance processes. This page summarises how they work.

Authorship and accountability

Every Loupa module and patient article has named accountable authors with relevant clinical experience. Nothing is published anonymously.

Specialist and peer review

GP education modules receive specialist review and GP peer review before publication. Patient education content receives clinical review, and provider-specific details are verified with the provider before release. These processes are defined and are being applied through our first modules and pilot series.

Evidence and review dates

Content is evidence-informed, with sources recorded and a stated review date on published material. When guidance changes or feedback identifies a problem, content is corrected, updated or withdrawn under version control.

Conflicts of interest and sponsorship

Authors and reviewers declare conflicts of interest, which are managed and recorded. Where sponsorship or partnership funding exists, it is kept separate from clinical conclusions. Sponsors do not influence what Loupa teaches or what patients are told. Loupa does not promote referral to any particular surgeon, clinic or provider.

Equity and cultural safety

Loupa content is written for Aotearoa New Zealand. That includes local referral pathways, public and private access, rural and urban barriers, and the health equity needs of Māori and Pacific communities. Equity is considered in the design of every module and article, proportionately to the topic.

Patient safety and the limits of general information

Loupa provides general education, not individual medical advice. Patient articles include clear safety-netting: when to contact the provider, and when to seek urgent help. Education for clinicians supports, but never replaces, clinical judgement, local pathways and current guidelines.

Corrections

If you believe any Loupa content is inaccurate or out of date, please contact us. Corrections are assessed promptly, and material corrections are recorded.

Privacy
